Every kid that ever lives sometime or another just wishes they have somewhere to run away and be alone. A treehouse, a clubhouse, a no-little-siblings house. Somewhere where it's just them, their thoughts... and a pile of junk food and movies. And yet, adults never remember these reasons from childhood.
Reason 1. Every kid needs some quiet time alone. The bad thing about that, is with 4 other kids in the house, it's almost impossible to do.
Reason 2: If they're a good kid with good grades and intentions, this will be a fun project. If they have bad grades and bad intentions, this will be a good way to get them working on a valuable skill.
Reason 3: Building it is half the fun- if you find a nice flat spot to build in.
Reason 4: You can show kids the value of money and how much it is for everything all together because all of the wood and furnishings cost money to get.
Reason 5: Finding the things that will go inside the hideout is fun too, like going to garage sales and Goodwill to find chairs, beanbags, rugs, cabinets, and end tables.
Reason 6: It will give kids something to do for a while. When they're building and getting it ready, they will stop playing video games for a while.
Reason 7: Do you know how awesome would it be to get your kids out of your hair for a few hours, and so that they have something to do when they're bored!
Whether it be a treehouse, or a ground clubhouse, or just a room in the hosue assigned for this purpose, kids need to be able to express themselves. Let them paint the walls and don't yell at them for it!
