My life was nothing before her. Nothing kept me here except
my military strict parents. But after her, she became the beauty of the school,
the sun in the sky of dark clouds. The only thing that keeps half the guys
here, in fact. This strawberry-blonde with a 120 IQ, clear sea green eyes, a
waist-length head of hair, and the position of head cheerleader was the top of
the school.
Her
name is Annabella Zayn, and she goes by Belle.
Belle was a sophomore, and I was in
7th grade. Nothing ever happened to show us together. But none of
the guys cared, and dreamed of a life with this perfect girl. Belle befriended
the pretty and non-pretty girls both, so she couldn’t be called cliquey by a
long shot. The guys were constantly hitting on her, but she always thought
herself too small to go out with them, setting them up with their match from
her friends. She was a Matchmaker, never the one to get matched, and everyone
seemed happy with the ones she suggests.
Whenever
I saw some sophomore go up to her and flirt, I kept having jealous thoughts.
Nothing could quench the burning feeling I felt in my stomach whenever a guy
was around this beauty. But Belle liked the attention, though she never used it
to her advantage. She announced to her friends in the 7th grade
hallway one day that ‘she was amazed at the friendliness of the kids here.’
Half the guys stopped and stared at her, thinking how stupidly ignorant she
was. The guys who had been staring before let their jaws fall to the ground.
Nothing so stupid had ever come out of the mouth of someone so smart.
Belle
got straight A’s, and she helped start a student tutoring group for everyone to
get better grades that need to. I joined up right away, and I told my mom that
I needed to raise my LA grade. But what she doesn’t know is that I have
straight A’s in every class, and LA is my favorite. The obvious reason is her.
Years
go by, and I get into high school as a freshman confident in my grades, and
myself. I had grown a few inches, and my face stopped looking like I was stung
by a hive of bees, and my voice no longer cracks at a critical moment in a
conversation with a girl. I was ready.
Belle
was a senior, but it seemed as I walked up to her she hadn’t aged a year, and
neither did I. I was the uncomfortable 7th grader I was before when
I spoke my first word to her. “Hi,” I had said. Later I thought, what a stupid
way to talk to a girl. But at that moment, I was tongue-tied. I couldn’t say
anything as she responded with a “Hello. New to high school? Freshman?” she
asked me. I could only nod. “I thought so. I didn’t see you around last year,
but you seem familiar,” she said, studying me. I had to talk. Say something,
stupid. “Yeah, well, I was in 8th grade last year,” Nothing too
horrible. I didn’t sound too cocky, did I? Oh man, this is harder than anything
than I’ve ever done. “Well, I was just wondering, maybe, you would go to the
movies with me? There’s that new one coming out, and it sounds pretty good,” Holy
crap! Did I just ask her out on a date? I think I did. But something was
registering on Belle’s face. Was it… Happiness? “What’s your name?” she asked
me, and I had to clear my thought before I answered. “Ty-Tyler,” She tipped her
head to one side, trying to place the name. “Tyler, Tyler… Oh! Tyler Callian?”
she asked me. Wow, she knew my name. How did that happen? I had to swallow
hard. “Yeah, that’s me,” Her face literally glows with happiness when I said
that. “You were in my club last year, right? Yeah, I remember. Tyler, I’ve been
waiting for you to come to high school. I liked you ever since that first day
when I was a sophomore in the club. So, yes! I’ll go with you to the movies!”
WOAH! WHAT?! HOLY CRAP, HOW DID I DO THAT? I’VE GOT A DATE! My heart is racing
a million miles an hour and I think it’s going to explode. “Well, you know, I
don’t have a driver’s license, so someone else will have to drive… I’m sorry,”
She shakes her head. “Its fine, Tyler. I can borrow my mom’s car. I’ll drive. Its
fine, I understand,” She walks away, smiling, and is greeted my one of her
friends in the hall. I turn, stunned, and think one thing. I was matched with the Matchmaker.
Epilogue
This was 10 years
ago, and now this beautiful girl has a husband and two wonderful children, a
girl and a boy. The older girl is now 4 years old, and she has her mom’s blonde
hair and her dad’s blue eyes. The younger boy just turned 2, and he’s the exact
image of his dad, with dirty blond hair and deep blue eyes. Now, ask me
something. How do I know all about this girl’s family? Am I some sort of stalker?
No, I assure you I’m not.
Annabella Zayn is now
Belle Callian.
Guys don't worry that much when talking to girls.
ReplyDeleteSpecific girls, though? regular girls sure, but Ive read a bunch of books form guys point of view, and they get nervous around that 'special girl'
DeleteNice job explaining, though.
