It was an ordinary Tuesday afternoon for Beth as she was stocking her shelves with brand new products for all over. She had gotten a new shipment of makeup products from France, and a bunch of really good candy from England. And some new board games that Iceland had invented were just screaming to be played. All was going well until she heard a small voice clear his throat behind her. She spun around, and a strange sight met her eyes. An odd man, only about 4 feet tall with pointy ears and curly shoes. “Can I help you, sir?” she asked the odd creature. “Yes, actually. I was wondering where you keep the bows and arrows here.” He asked in a tiny, yet gruff voice. “Our hunting stuff is over there, sir. Please, find some arrows that suit your needs,” she said as he turned and walked off over to the hunting supplies. She hid behind a cart full of hunting knives and watched as he pulled out his bow and fitted all of the sample arrows into it, shooting at the practice target in a little closed off area in the corner. Each time the arrow shot from his bow and whizzed into the center of the target, but he muttered to himself and shook his head before putting it back. She caught him saying to himself, “Darn humans, never stocking the Transylvanian arrows that can kill vampires,” Beth moved away quickly when she saw that there were only three arrows left untried in the container. She went back to the board game section and started stocking those shelves. She heard the strange little man leave, muttering that he should’ve gone to Martha’s instead, whoever that was.
An hour later, she had finished with the games and moved onto the makeup. Suddenly, something appeared before her eyes. She blinked and looked again. Just an average 30 year old woman, she was wearing all sorts of different necklaces and charm bracelets. “Excuse me, but I was hoping you could direct me to the medicine aisle. Going from place to place does make me quite ill,” the woman said. Beth soundlessly lead the way to the pills, and went into the other aisle to spy on her like she had done with the small man. The woman was picking up each and every one of the pill bottles, reading the name, and putting it down again. She seemed to be looking for a particular one. Beth heard her murmur, “Why can’t these humans see that the Wolf Pills work just as well as any of this? That’s what I need. I’m the most powerful shape-shifter in the world, and I can’t even get proper care!” she ranted. Beth pretended to be organizing when the woman stormed out of the door of Target. Beth laid down on the floor as the clock outside chimed 7, her closing time. “Thank god,” she told herself. “I don’t think I would’ve been able to handle another insane creature,” She closed her eyes and fell asleep on the carpet of the clothing compartment, for once glad that it was there.
I love your story! That was a awesome idea! Meow :D
